Galataport Project consists of four historical buildings and one new building located in Karaköy area. Three historical buildings (Merkez Han, Çinili Han and Packet Post Office) were designed by François Hennebique and were one of the first reinforced concrete projects implemented in Turkey. At the first stage of the project, structural damage of the historical buildings was detected and strengthening designs were developed. Also in the scope of the new building design, OTS engineers developed the design of post-tensioned floors. In order to monitor the condition of historical structures during strengthening, a structural integrity monitoring was implemented, and the data obtained from the system was evaluated. Consultancy and supervision services were provided by OTS at the second stage of the project. The scope of consultancy services included supervision aiming the correct field application of the design, production of solutions for various details that were coming up on site, materials inspection and validation of their conformity.
