After privatization of Konya Sugar Factory by Torku Group, studies of structural safety of the facilities were performed. It was found that due to the acid released during production of sugar, existing steel structures started to wear off in their sections. It was detected that structural interventions of past processes caused negative effect on structures. Besides, floors were exposed to heavy vibration loads. Damage detection studies were performed upon preparation of the load bearing system survey of the structure. Strengthening designs and field application projects were developed based on the result of this study and relevant strength and vibration analysis.
